Privacy Policy
What we collect
- Contact details: name, email address, phone number, and for students under 18 the name and contact details of a parent or guardian.
- Lesson and booking details: instrument, lesson times, attendance, event dates, venues, and notes you send us.
- Payment records: invoices and payment status. Card and bank details are entered directly with Stripe and are never stored by us.
- Messages: emails and text messages you exchange with us, kept so we can follow up.
How we use it
To schedule and confirm lessons and events, send invoices and payment links, send lesson-day confirmations and reminders, respond to you, and keep our own records for accounting and tax purposes. If you signed up for show announcements, we email you about upcoming shows; every one of those emails has an unsubscribe link.
Who processes it for us
We use ordinary service providers to run the business: Stripe (payments), Google (calendar and email), Cal.com (scheduling), Resend (email delivery), Twilio (text messages), Supabase (our records database), and Netlify (website hosting). Each receives only what it needs to do its job. We do not sell personal information, and mobile numbers and text-message consent are never shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing purposes.
Text messages
Lesson-day text confirmations are sent only to numbers whose owners agreed to receive them. Reply STOP to any message to opt out. Details are in the Text Message Policy.
How long we keep it
Lesson, booking, and payment records are kept for as long as you are a student or client and afterward as required for tax and accounting, generally seven years. Text-message bodies are kept for 90 days. Marketing contacts are kept until you unsubscribe.
Your choices
You can ask to see, correct, or delete the information we hold about you, or opt out of any communication, by emailing jordan@groovemountains.com or calling (202) 270-5248. We respond within 30 days. Records we must keep by law are retained.
Our apps
The Musician’s Metronome for iPhone, iPad, and Mac collects no personal information. Your settings (tempo, time signature, sounds, trainers) are stored only on your device so the app opens the way you left it. There are no accounts, no analytics, no advertising, and nothing is sent to us or to anyone else. The free web version at jordanlovinger.com/tools/metronome works the same way: its settings stay in your browser. Questions about the app: jordan@groovemountains.com.
Children
Lessons for students under 18 are arranged through a parent or guardian, and that adult is our contact for scheduling, invoices, and text messages.
Changes
If this policy changes we update the date above. Material changes are announced to current students and clients by email.
